This is a great opportunity to join a fast growing, UK based software company that has created world beating products utilising innovative document management, search and workflow technologies. No other company in the world has products that can match their capabilities. They are self funded, profitable and the current economic situation is stimulating additional demand for their products.
Responsibilities:
The role will be to lead the software product development within the company. You will manage a small but very talented team of software developers ensuring on-time and high quality delivery in line with the overall product road-map.
You will be directly responsible for the leadership of a mature and high calibre software development team, liaising with senior directors of the business translating product road-maps into market ready products.
This is a non-hierarchical company where each individual is valued for their unique contribution to the whole. The new appointment will have important responsibilities but the successful candidate should see themselves as adding new capability to the business, not as becoming a new layer of management.
Skills and Experience:
-
Experience of managing software product development teams.
-
Good project and man management skills.
-
Good technical understanding (to a fairly detailed level) of software development particularly Java, J2EE and .NET based technologies.
-
Experience of developing software for workflow, search or document management solutions would be a significant advantage.
You will have proven experience of project managing complex software product developments delivering results on time and to budget and quality constraints. The ideal candidate will have the ability to implement pragmatic processes to improve quality, output and predictability without limiting the creativity of the team.
An essential element of the role is managing customer driven enhancements into the product whilst ensuring that the overall product functionality and strategy is not compromised.
You will have the organisational skills to manage multiple activities in parallel and the leadership qualities to get the best possible productivity out of the team. A previous background as a software engineer will be a benefit as there may be a requirement to understand and contribute at a design level.
The candidate must have a strong academic background with a good numerate degree from a high quality university. It is also essential to have a well developed problem solving ability and a "can do" approach.
You will have ideally gained your experience within complex software product development environments such as enterprise applications or infrastructure software. Additional experience gained in early stage companies would be an advantage.
You must be a UK / EU National or already be resident in the UK with a current Work Permit.
